I already have a bunch of free books, in epub format, that I got from the Gutenberg project. Do these other sources sell new releases like Dan Brown's Lost Symbol? I also like to read J.D.Robb's In Death series and Michael Connelly's Harry Bosche detective series. Are these books released in epub format? One of the reasons that I bought a Sony reader instead of a Kindle is that I felt books would be available from more sources and competition would drive the prices down. I usually wait for a book to be released in paper back before I buy it. I won't pay $15 to $20 for a novel that I'll only read once.

My home town library used to carry digital books that were readable only on a computer. They have discontinued that. The last time I asked about ebooks, the told me that they had bought a Kindle and had it for rent, but that they didn't carry any books for it. So I guess they expect someone to rend the Kindle and then buy their own ebooks or just read the public domain books. I intend to take my Sony 600 to the library to show them and encourage them to support it with ebooks for loan. Budgets are tight now, so they will probably just yawn.
