Ahh but vanilla (proper vanilla, that is, not the synthetic crud that seems to end up in too much foodstuffs - and, I daresay, drinkstuffs) is the second most expensive spice (saffron is the most expensive). And it has a very nice, rich taste (again, the real stuff, yada yada)
