Device: Astak EZ-reader, Sony PRS-600
I've been experiencing a similar battery issue which has me somewhat stumped.

I've been using the book armor case. After a couple weeks of use, I noticed the plastic straps in the case which anchor the leather front and back flaps of the sony case in place had started to fatigue, and the reader had started to move around a bit too much for my comfort. So, I decided to put some heavy duty velcro I had lying around onto the sony case and velcro it into the book armor case. It worked beautifully, anchoring the reader securely, but still enabling me to pop it out of the case at will.

The extra 1/8th inch of padding or so from the velcro made the book armor case quite a snug fit for the reader. And I fear that therein may lay the problem.

Since making my little modification, my reader will now go dead whenever I have it zipped up in the case. I can put it in with a full charge and in sleep mode, and 3-4 hours later pull it out with a dead battery. The book armor case has plenty of room above and below the reader, so I know that the volume button isn't being pushed. There is, however, a fair amount of pressure being placed on the front buttons and touch screen, and I can only imagine that even though the device is in sleep mode, this pressure is somehow activating the touch screen and/or buttons and draining the battery.

I did some very unscientific messing around today with putting a heavy marble dish over a couple of the front buttons today to see if it reproduced the battery drain, but it didn't seem to. Which led me to wonder if the pressure over the screen could be having an effect?

Anybody noticed anything similar, or have any thoughts? It seems to me that in sleep mode, everything should be asleep, except the power button to wake up.
