A friend of mine has the same problem with her Sony 505.
Doesn't seem to be that uncommon.
Maybe that's the reason, why they gave their new Sony 300 "plastic framing"?

Personally, I don't like it. Looks a bit cheap, 2 different materials with slightly different colors. But avoids the troubles you describe.

My suggestion would be, using a cover which doesn't use the "holes in the frame", but where you slide the reader into.
For example from tuff-luv.
I guess, using the holes puts traction on the frame and that's why it's partially loose.
