I think you need at least 2 lists: 100 essential fiction and 100 essential nonfiction. Of course, that raises another question: Is the Bible fiction or nonfiction?
Which leads to yet another question: Which version of the Bible? Or can we just say "Bible" includes all versions and all religions?
