I got delivery of my Cybook Opus about a week ago. I'm very pleased with it.
Over all, I like the nice, clean design where the bulk of the reader is its screen. I was worried that it would have the same cheap feel that the CyBook 3 does, but despite the plastic case, it looks and feels great. The light weight is great for one-handed reading. I like the pouch that it ships with, and don't see any need to buy a cover.
I have a few nits, but none very serious.
- For me, the page up/down buttons are on the wrong side. I like to hold the Opus in my left hand, but can't conveniently reach the buttons.
- Navigating folders is a bit awkward. It's ok if you read linearly, but sometimes I like to flip back and forth between a couple of books in different folders. A "recently accessed books" view would be nice.
- The device's portability has been a little over-stated. It's nice and light and fits happily into my knapsack or laptop case. But it's too big for pockets.
- I found the accelerometer engaged at times I didn't intend, and wound up disabling it.
- And of course I am now joining the ranks of people waiting for the firmware fix for the freeze-up problem. But I really can't complain too much here since I knew about it before I bought.
I can imagine one day getting a second reader with a larger screen, but for now am very happy with this one.
