I was thinking about how "loan words" in English tend to come from the country that introduced the concept. And since the first eink reader came from Japan...

I plugged "electronic book" into Google translations for English to Japanese. A google image search did come up with lots of photos of electronic book readers,so it seems to be a legit translation.

So-- the term everyone should use for electronic book readers is: 電子書籍
