I've discovered something close to the same.. when I drop books into the folder on 505 vs using the Sony eLibrary. (I don't use a SD card as I only keep about 175 books on my Reader--enough to keep me busy reading for a while and just enough time to acquire more books to add

)
If I use the eLibrary the books (epub, lrf/lrx, custom pdf from feedbooks) are prepagnated and work well on page turn speed and font size changing... I've only had one major problem, and that was with a very large pdf file that froze my Reader (a Marco Polo book from PG).
