1. I am very grateful for the information regarding (a) "color(s)" (b) SD Cards & (c) charging the eReader(s) posted on Astak resources on these "threads". I just wish I'd had insights earlier ... but nothing could have achieved that ... for me since it seems "everyone was learning at about the same time".
2. Yesterday I was able to communicate with Customer Service by phone and received "return materials" yesterday afternoon and got the unit into the UPS system too. Since the materials received included having a "tracking number" both Astak & I can keep up to date on the movement ....
3. I learned that if I had paid for shipping without the benefit of Astak discounted contract rates ... I would have spent $18 for original shipment of the product ... I certainly want Astak to flourish ... and would have preferred Astak charging me a "legitimate original shipping charge" and then adding in "Handling fees" as an identifiable "add-on" as part of their identifiable "mark-up" ... I know "they" need to cover costs too ... just as I do.
4. Having read the notes regarding "color issues" I concluded that I would replace the unit I received ... so I now look forward to receiving one that "holds" its color and has a "charging light" that works properly.
(a) It would be helpful, to me, to have notes in the "Users Guide" that are 'more complete' and includes information about all aspects of the "charging" process and all of the symbols which appear on the screen of the eReader ... so I know what to expect and how to effectively use the resource in advance of trying to use it for the first time.
5. Astak is my first eReader so I'm new to eReader use ... and this is all new territory for me ... I know my learning curve is fairly steep (heck I'm an old guy trying to find my way in this 'new world of advanced technological resources') ... but I want to be able to "keep on the trail without giving up or falling in a ditch" and I need good solid information and insights as early-on as possible ....
6. Clearly, had I not had the benefit of the Astak notes from Robert B and the observations of Astak users ... I would have sent the unit I had back for a full refund and moved on to another product ... given all I've learned "here" I have asked for another "Blue" unit and I anxiously await its arrival ....
(a) I was cautioned to "off load" any books or materials I had loaded on the Astak and since mine had "never" worked ... I had nothing to download ... so sending the SD back was not an issue for me, now I understand why the same suggestion was offered three
(3) times ...
(b) I assume I'll receive a new SD with the new eReader I am sent from Astak.
Peace & aloha from a very satisfied Astak consumer. 808Tom
