The Gate
The void is white
From end to end
Above me, gigantic
Letters extend
The Fire Fox sits
Just by my side
Its grin is sharp
And ever-so snide
“Just shout out some words
A thought or a sin
And the great Gate shall open
For you to dive in.”
I plead with the Fox
-I’d like to go home
The Fox rolls its eyes
“Oh, throw me a bone.”
“Just play along,
For somebody’s sake
Think of some words
To feed the Google Gate.”
Still, I can’t speak
And the Fox judges me weak
For I could never
Think on my feet
“Tell you what,” it says, “I’ll start you off,”
And its smile becomes cruel, as it starts to scoff
“Let’s begin with something ripped from your life
Like the triple-barrelled name
Of your dear, departed wife.”
