I just finished reading "Sons and Lovers" and was a bit appalled at the clear evidence of re-writes and all the seams and stitches exposed. I enjoyed the book and understand its place but guess I expect more from something so highly rated as a classic.
Sure there are going to be flaws in any novel, but this one could have used a bit more smoothing/editing....
