because i'm pretty sure that it's the kind of toy she would like and since 1. you can't lose the bleeding ball under the furniture and 2. once you start it moving it will keep moving even with very little help it should (hopefully) keep her interested.
see, i did tied a cork on the end of a string to the top of a doorframe, but somehow unless i'm there she's just not interested.  i hadn't thought of putting catnip in paperbags, usually the bag alone is pretty fascinating, but again she likes it much better if i'm there rustling the side of it with my foot while she tries to catch it from inside.
