Device: Slate Blue PEZ (Astak Pocket Pro), CVSCX-9300 Quad-band watch phone
It also may be the heat. The PEZ locked inside it's package...a dozen locked inside a cardboard box, many boxes locked inside a metal plane cargo hold, then sitting for days inside a metal UPS/FedEx truck.

I can almost bet that the temp in the van alone could get over 100-120 degrees C (212-248 F).

My unit now is starting to resemble my grandmother's thighs.

Question for you Robert. On the back of the device are 4 black rubber pads. Am i correct in assuming that beneath these are 4 screws to separate the back from the device? If so...

How feasable would it be to remove all the mechanics of the device and leave only the front and back shell aside for painting purposes?

Is the eInk display affixed to the front opening with some sort of glue?

I assume that taking the unit apart like this would most likely void some, if not all, warranty.
