Ummm....what about the used book market? When you buy a book 2nd hand, there's no royalty going to the author, no profits to the publisher. Now, I know this isn't 'piracy', but certainly, isn't the end result the same....a 2nd person (or 3rd or 4th, etc.) getting the experience of reading the author's word, without benefit of contributing to his (and his publisher's) coffers?
Yeah...I can hear the response already....'but ebook piracy allows 10s of thousands of people to read the book'. But if you consider the 100's of thousands of used books sold each year, the amount would be impressive too.
Just a thought.....
