If Dan Brown has fallen into the hands of pirates, I hope they make him walk the plank. His other books -- for all their literary failings -- had strong good points that earned their cover price. *The Lost Symbol* has no such saving grace. It's a crying shame to see a chap who was a good, workmanlike tale spinner turn in such a disappointingly poor job. Someone else here in another thread suggested a kind of Chuck Norris factor -- editor's don't mess with Brown. Could well be. Any decent fiction editor could have turned this piece around ... given the freedom to do so. N
