Dislikes:
- screen reflection in low light conditions
- user interface inefficiencies:
e.g. not being able to make a note on a highlight without exiting from annotation mode
e.g. not being able to modify metadata in the library or the device - this is a problem for me when I am using the device to review work related rtfs and pdfs that may either have been stripped of metadata for security purposes or may not ever have had any...then you get a "blank" file name on the device. Calibre will fix this but because I need to be able to export notes and view them on the computer I can't give up the Library for these work related documents yet. Apparently I am now skating the thin edge of disaster by using the Library for work docs and Calibre for everything else...
- lack of font choices
- default to "s" font size
BUT - I had a Cybook before and while I much preferred the screen quality and font type and size choices, I am overall very happy to have the annotation features of the PRS600 and don't think I would go back after a little more than a week of usage.
Like:
- taking it with me to meetings and using the "Drawing" feature to take handwritten notes which I then screen clip to OneNote
- reading and marking up very very large documents without having to print up all of those pages
- organizing my books by tags in Calibre and having that mean something on the device
- search features
It's not perfect by any means but I am of the opinion that personally for my functions the good outweighs the bad. If I weren't using it for work related purposes, however, I probably would opt for a PRS300.
