I used JE-Comics a long time and i think it's a great tool. But there where two reasons which forced me to develop an own converter:
- The gui had some missing functions like remember the last used directory
- Bored nerd searched something to code
Instead of writing a text about the features i make a little comparison with pro and contra:
Pro:- Nice gui
- Remove images
- Move images
- Search images
- Remember last used directory
- Insert images sorted
- Inserting the selected folder and all subfolders
- Auto select the rotation for horizontal pictures
- Set the dpi, width and height of the device (-> application is compatible to other ebook reader, default values are for iLiad 8" with toolbar)
- very fast pdf generation (about 5-6 times on my computer compared to JE-Comics)
- Showing the number of inserted and total images
Contra:- very slow image insertion
- no splitting
- no filtering
- Actual only for windows (maybe linux and mac will follow)
- Bigger pdfs (about 2 times compared to JE-Comics)
- No presets for dpi, height and width of different devices (if somebody knows one i can include this)
- No cbz support
The images converted with iRex-Feeder are a little bit smoother. I'm not sure if this is a pro or contra
Any ideas for new features or criticism?
Update: Added a preset menu. Actually it contains only iLiad 8" Normal and Fullscreen. For more presets i need the dpi, height and width (all in pixel) of the screen.
Update: Fixed a bug when move items down. Added an auto scroll function.
