In the distant past, when I had Internet access and a palmtop, but no monetary means of purchasing either ebooks or paper books in English, I was reading a lot of darknet books, preferring to read in the language in which they were written. I very rarely had any trouble with the quality of the text in the files, possibly because I could usually choose from many versions for the same books.
Later when I was able to purchase from Amazon, I bought a number of harcover books (about 20) I wanted to have, because of that.
For the past few years all I read are public domain ebooks, because I find them more interesting than darknet books.
So, in a way, I could say unavailable ebook might represent a lost book sale, as I would never buy a hardcover book if I wasn't sure it's worth it.
