even that palmos future devices will not happen, there is a large installed base of existing palm devices. I am a proud owner of 2 palm organizers (one is palmpilot professional and the other is palm IIIx), and I use
jpilot to synchronize with my desktop.
Among other things, I do use my palm for address book contacts list. My wife, however, prefers them in a nice printed copy by the phone, and an abbreviated one (w/o addresses and notes) in her office. Recently, formatting for iliad of a hardcopy became an issue as well.
So maybe palmos is dead, but development around palmos devices is not. I have written a utility
paddpdb2bib that easily achieves printing the contacts in the various customized ways above, by mating together an existing perl module to access the palm database, and a latex-based framework formatting contacts from a bibtex database, which I use on my Linux box.
Happy formatting.
