I think the context wil not permit any confusion. Who says "I'm gonna use my ereader" when talking about an ebook/file format? In this forum, for example, never read someone say "I want to buy an ereader" (while refering to the ebook format), or "I will read in my mobi" (or whatever).
Although homonyms, there's no mistake when using the "ereader" word, either the ebook format or the electronic reader.
