Since I posted that message, I tried installing eBook Library on an XP/SP2 box, and while it was better than Win 7, it was still as bad as Snow Leopard - constant crashes as I tried to load files into it.

So far, the most reliable solution I've found is to run Ubuntu in a Linux virtual machine on my Mac and then run Calibre in that.
