Since most textbooks are utterly unnecessary rewrites simply to force students to purchase new textbooks, I hope he sticks by his policy.

In the event that the textbooks you write there actually exists a need for that isn't equally well served by a myriad older textbooks that could be printed at reasonably prices or purchased used (far cheaper than even just last year's used textbooks), I wish you good luck... but chances are, at the very least you are skirting what is fairly widely acknowledged as an industry that basically thrives because educational institutions help it exploit their student populations.
