I gave up on using it is the short answer. File size wasn't usually the problem it was more to do with the complexity of the page I found, 100meg simple format pdfs opened fine, small 8 meg complex pdfs failed utterly.
I went back to reading them on the PC or laptop and haven't charged the Dr1000 up for several weeks now.
