Just a thought (and I have no experience of using these things but..).
How about looking at one of those "CD recovery kits" to see if it could be used to take scratches out of the screen? As far as I understand, they effectively like a "T-Cut" for CD's for polishing out scratches. Could one of these kits be used on the DR?
It could be worth a try at least? Perhaps even a car type "T-Cut"?
