Don't let it all bother you. We're all somewhat anal, anyway - I know I am - when it comes to our favorite words, pet peeves, and rabid racoons. (See: I like alliteration, but no one writes in that mode.)

My advice is this: Never apologize for something you feel is right.

On the other hand, I'm one of those people who feel the word will go nowhere: It's like a dead-end street.

Like I mentioned before: Words go in and out of circulation, and some just die of cardiac arrest.
