Unfortunately, this is true. Most publishers are either technologically challenged, or can't see beyond the tip of their nose, or just run by complete idiots.

Or, they just think, that ebooks will just go away, if they mire the users into a web of incompatible DRM and formats.

Sadly, a lot of writers will also suffer, because of their publishers' shortsightedness.
