There is no reason now why this won't work (hides behind sofa)

You sure don't give up easily!
I did what you said. All went well until I received the same error message about the missing directory. Just before that Amarok seemed to download and install. There were 2 messages just before the error, "Setting up amarok-xine" and Setting up amarok".
Now when I list the installed applications, amarok is listed but when I try and run it from there nothing happens. Tried rebooting the Q7 and now there is an amarok entry in the "Sound & Video" options. When I select it I get the message "Now starting Amarok" but nothing else happens.
Better go back to your hiding place.
Edit: Decided to start over. Reloaded firmware and in the process of doing everything again. Will advise when finished.
UPDATE: It worked. So you can come out of hiding now.
I now have 2 amarok entries in the Sound & Video menu.
Amarok starts from either menu item and I've now played my first MP3 on the Q7!
You have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me out and I appreciate your effort and patience. You deserve a holiday after all that, so off you go, have some fun.
Cheers
