But that wind is really loud! It comes straight at the house, after having travelled across about 5km of flat, open spaces..

oh, i know, wind can be infernally loud too, even if it *doesn't* have 5km of flat, open spaces to build up momentum. here when it's very windy it seems to howl around in the courtyard like some kind of resonance chamber. it's not for nothing people will say that wind will drive you mad, you know.

Would it be too much trouble to deprive them of electricity?

No more middle of the night fireworks displays. In November. No more driving up at 11:30 PM, yelling loudly at one another, then letting the dogs out and yelling loudly at them. No more petty vandalism of my gardens by The Son and his loser friends. No more mowing the lawn at 6:00AM on a Sunday. Wouldn't that be great?
I'll worry about the new neighbors when they arrive.

well, that is good news pshrynk. i hope neighborman also moves away, and your new neighbors are a nice, peaceful old couple (but not too old, so you can keep the same ones for a long time). alternately, perhaps you'd be interested in some of my neighbors ? they can't possibly be worse than your current / ex ones, and i'd certainly like to see the back of most of them...
(ironically, the appartment they are currently making such hellish noise in used to be the appartement of the one single neighbor who NEVER caused any trouble or made any noise (other than me, obviously). she moved away.

worst of all, i suspect the owner actually threw her out at the end of her lease, which he'll probably do to me too, next year).
