The calibre manual is not meant to be viewed in IE.
Download it to a .epub file and the use the Calibre viewer and it works fine. You may have to right-click the link and select the "Save Target As"option to get IE to download the file without trying to interpret its contents.
As well as working in the Calibre viewer, the downloaded file also seemed to work OK if I converted it to LRF using Calibre and viewed it on my Sony PRS-500.
