well yes the more books you have the slower it goes
myself i have 600 books on my reader , novels all ,in pdf, lrf and prc
but they are split between two card a 2gb sd and a 2gb pro duo

also i think that according to sony that you shouldn't put anything bigger
than a 4gb card
