I did puzzle for a little bit when I received this error when I tried to launch it:

Segmentation fault
I determined I was missing libpodofo0. This library isn't in Ubuntu Jaunty repositories, however I did find it in the Scribus repository.
Instructions for accessing the Scribus repository for various Debian and Ubuntu releases is here: http://www.scribus.net/?q=debian
It still has those 'link' messages on launch however no segmentation fault and it appears to work now
