I think we have a misunderstanding here...

The INSIDE of the frontcover is plastic, the stiffening...not the actual cover.
I'm not sure about the recharging...do you need to dock the Sony Reader to charge or can you connect the charging cable just like that? Then you would be able to chrage it in the cover...
