I find this dictionary debate interesting because it is clearly an important need for many people, but I never use one.

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I primarily read Science Fiction and Fantasy? Often the books are full of invented terms that I don't really grok*. You have to tease out the meaning from the context, or sometimes wait for it to be revealed to you. However, dictionaries wouldn't help since the words are artificial.

*grok is an invented word from Stranger in a Strange land. It means to know or understand, but it refers to a deep understanding that implies you have completely internalized the concept.
