Here, the excrutiatingly loud noise we have to contend with is the sound of cicadas. They come out every few years and the mating sound they make is deafening, especially in the evenings, but it pretty much lasts all day and all night. We had the doors open last evening because it has turned a little cooler, but the noise was so bad the kids couldn't hear the television unless they turned that up to deafening levels. It was like the battle of the Insects vs. the Disney Channel!
