Just a note that there's absolutely nothing wrong with "I feel bad". In this sentence, "bad" is not an adverb (qualifying the verb "feel") but is simply the object of the verb.
If you were to say "I feel badly", that would suggest that you are not doing the act of feeling in a very efficient manner, or something like that
