One thing that helps with PDFs on the 505 is to put the device in landscape mode -- makes the PDF display quite a bit larger.
I don't know how difficult it will be to find a 505 in a month or so. I suspect they'll be available on eBay for a while, along with at Frys and other electronics dealers.
