The EZ Reader Pocket Pro is a Hanlin V5. This is known by several names in different markets. In England it will probably be available as the BeBook Mini.
The V5 does have TTS, but it isn't available for ePub and PDF ebook formats. Unfortunately, ePub is the format that you would typically buy ebooks in (e.g. from
WHSmiths). It isn't yet clear if Adobe will let the V5 have TTS for ePub and PDF - they may have the same problems with publishers that Amazon ran into in the US. There is a work around, but it involves removing the DRM (encryption). Once the DRM has been removed (
Adobe ADEPT DRM for EPUB circumvented), the ebook can be shifted to a format, like FB2, that does support TTS using Calibre.
In the UK, removing DRM isn't illegal but format shifting of any kind is. This will come as a surprise to millions of citizens who do it all the time, e.g. ripping a CD to their PC. The law simply isn't enforced when the shifting is for personal use.
