Was the book you are talking about a Anthology? Those can get listed weirdly.

On of their current errors is Nora Roberts book Black Hills listed in general nonfiction.

Yes. There have been 3 books so far that were listed using a popular (say, Penguin) cover, while the actual publisher was Xlibris, or something similarly shady. Especially translations seem to be popular for this sort of deception. While I've reported the problem in both cases, and got a refund, they have yet to mark the book entries as containing incorrect information.
(In the case of Taras Bulba, specifically, the "ebook excerpt" and cover are actually from a different translation than the actual book contains, and while the listed publisher says "random house", the actual publisher, as listed inside the book, is Digireads, and the translation is Hogarth's.)
Pretty elaborate deception, but I haven't the faintest if FW or Digireads (or even RH) is to blame. Still, it seems to be a rule of thumb that any 'classic' sold at a list price of under 10$ is a PD translation.
