It sounds like she's mis-understood your situation. Try this line of explanation:
"I downloaded the book to an unauthorised installation of ADE.
I deleted that installation, installed a fresh copy and authorised it.
I now cannot read my book. Please refund the book purchase so that I can buy it again and download it with my authorised copy of ADE."
Any mention of other machines will lead to the synchronisation red herring. The problem isn't that you can't read the book on both machines, it's that you can't read it on the original machine. Keep it simple when talking to customer support.
Once you have it downloaded on an authorised machine you'll be able to transfer it to other machines with ADE authorised with the same Adobe ID.
