Depends on the shop. I once got a free eBook as goodie with an pBook. And that could only be read on one computer. Loose that computer and bye bye eBook.
I wrote then to tell them that under this condition I would never buy any eBooks with them.
And for a long time I thought that Adobe eBooks must be avoided at all cost. Now I know it is not quite as bad.
