i'm glad i'm not alone. thinking more about it it's rather like a vibration which i can feel, it's almost itchy in my ears. so i can easily imagine that fan noise would cause the same sensation. it's very unfortunate for you, given your job ! the radio you can't quite hear is actually a good description ; you know there is *something* so your ears try to hear it, but you can't quite... it's really annoying.
