The only negatives I can think of for the WiFi is that it would probably cut your battery life down like it does in my phone(HP iPaq 910c). Which isn´t a real reason not to have a device with this capability, unless your going to the field and won´t have a wall socket available. But then again I´m sure they would be smart enough to put on and off sitch for the wiFi as well.
I have a kindle 1 and I am lucky because I havent had a chance to actually use amazons Whispernet, since I live roughly 4,000 miles away from the US. It is something I think about (removal of data by Amazon) and say I´m not a fan of it, However I´m pretty sure Amazon isn´t going around and taking everyones books for the hell of it as well. But honestly the kindle 1 is an all around great device to me, simply for the fact that the majority of books I read, I can purchase from Amazon.
