I think what I'm going to do is go back there this morning with my point and shoot camera (I have an SLR, but that's overkill  ) and take some similar shots with it next to the 700, and the 505, showing the screen specifically. I'll also take some shots of the 300 for those interested. I hope the clarity of the screens will come out in the photos.
To reiterate - the screen on the 600 is NOT poor. It just simply is not as crisp as the 505. I'm pretty certain this is not due to intention on Sony's part, but simply due to the film they have to put over top of it for the touchscreen capabilities. So if you want a touchscreen, the clarity suffers - it's a tradeoff. I simply felt that after seeing the difference, the tradeoff isn't worth it for me. Some people might choose otherwise, because frankly, it's still really good. Just don't go look at it next to the 505. :P
