incidentally, I don't stick the 'okina into "Hawaiian" because that's not a Hawaiian word, it's an English version of a Hawaiian concept. Hawaiian words never end in a consonant, and never have two consonants next to one another. An the 'okina is a consonant. 13 letters- 5 vowels, 8 consonants. In Hawaiian, you'd just stick the word "Hawai'i" on the back as a modifier. Like Hawaiian flag would be "hae Hawai'i."
