I'm just trying to say that everything is expensive here, so it's only natural that the wages are higher.
If we are talking buying power, I actually think the Americans and maybe also you Canadians are a bit ahead of us.

We have A LOT of added taxes on stuff deemed unhealthy to use in large quantities. A
litre (not a gallon) of gasoline is about 1.8 $. for example.
