OK, seriously ....
Once upon a time I got myself one of them fancy educations I had been hearing so much about. It was a shiny diploma that roughly translates to a bachelor in computer science.
Sadly some kind of bubble had just burst and I couldn't even get replies on my applications.
Fast forward a few years and you would find me struggling to get my own business going.
A few years later still, you could find me working as a day to day temp in factories of all kinds.
One day I got hired by one of the factories. This was a electronics factory and I really liked that job.
They soon discovered that I was an able programmer and I got more and more assignments that made use of that. For some time they wanted to hire me as a programmer permanently. It never got around to that though.
About a year ago my mother made me sign up on facebook, and shortly after that an old friend from my education popped up (on facebook) and asked me if I wanted a job where he worked.
I went to interviews and accepted the job as supporter.
That was last November and right on cue, some bubble burst.
They soon discovered that I am an able programmer and I got more and more assignments that made use of that (see the pattern here?

).
Then last month the überboss scheduled a meeting with me ... He never does that!
It turns out that he wanted to offer me a job as a full time programmer starting from 1. September
The past two weeks I have been involved in taking ownership of an application that was developed out of the house since 8 years ago. Today I finally accomplished to make it compatible with windows server 2008 x64, a feature that has been much coveted by the management for the last year or so.
I can't tell you how good it feels to finally be successful in the line of work that I do best
Anyway, you asked for the long version, so I don't want to hear any complaints
