I imagine that most people aren't aware that Les Paul was so instrumental (

) in the development of the electric guitar and the music played on it. Most folks don't know that he and his wife Mary Ford hosted their own TV show!
Today, there are basically
three, and only three,
major styles of electric guitars; the Fender Stratocaster, the Fender Telecaster, and the Gibson 'Les Paul' models. Almost every major electric guitar manufacturer puts out it's own 'Les Paul' model. I'm basically an acoustic guitar player but even I have a 'Les Paul' for when I want to get that jazzy Les Paul/Chet Atkins neck-pickup clear tone!
Les Paul was and will always be one of the all-time greats of guitar history.
