What is one person's "smut" is another person's idea of romantic human relations. I like to read Harlequin romances for the escapism factor and the fact that their books are quick reads (when you have 3 kids, time is definitely an issue). I stopped reading the Blaze series because the books have gotten so raunchy in the last couple of years. I don't mind sex scenes, but I prefer more story line than sex scenes that last 20 pages. There are all kinds of levels between the raunchy and the uber-mushy, though, even in the Harlequin/Silhouette line of books.

As for predictability, of course they are, that's what you expect when you pick up a romance novel.

Slite, I'm not crazy about the Vampire stuff, either. The thought of someone sucking out my blood, no matter how erotic it may be written, just creeps me out.
