I would still say get two. It's really nice for an SHUM to have a friend who is with them during the day. I don't feel half so bad when I have to go somewhere on business or into town for an all day shopathon, because my SHUMS have got each other.
Same with the doggy SHUMS. One SHUM stuck in a kennel is such a sad thing to see. Two doggy SHUMS playing in a kennel, different story.
