Not really. The Asus is a great little netbook, sturdy and pretty capable. And it also has a 1024x768 'compressed' screen mode that is accessed via a single button push (skinny silver button, second from the left at the upper left of the keyboard), as well as a 1024x768 expanded mode (that scrolls the desktop vertically).

I use mine for work with an external monitor too. Just plug and play!
